My client, a high-ranking executive, doesn’t like to live far from his office. When his office moved to Arlington, he bought this penthouse five minutes away. He owns several properties, including a sprawling ranch. He’s an outdoorsman who spends a lot of time in an urban penthouse. Our design concept: Rustic Chic (of course!). The Phillip Jeffries wallpaper was the first selection–mimicking bark with a sophisticated shimmer. The trunk console from the Phillips Collection was next with my custom-designed Maestro Cabinet above. From these three elements all things flowed. I created space for his collections and placed many pieces from his amazing art collection. All lighting was selected harmoniously with the concept. Both bathrooms were completely redone with masculine beauty and functionality in mind. His second bedroom became a den, complete with sleeping capabilities, an office, and ample display of his sports memorabilia.
