Dry Your Eyes Rug Story

James Bay recently came on the scene. His sound is unique, and his songs are well-written. I was an immediate fan. His first hit “Hold Back the River” talks about being away from loved ones during important times.

When I travel or my daughter is away, I’m constantly thinking about her…What is she doing?…Is she happy?…When Lauren was young and I’d call home, she’d cry on the phone asking when I was coming home. Broke my heart. This song reminds me of those times. She doesn’t cry anymore but still asks, “When are you coming home?” in a soft voice. Hearing my teenager now asking me still makes my heart ache. But, when I get home, even if I’m gone a couple of days, the reunion always consists of a joyful voice, a big hug, and a genuine relief to see each other’s face.

When I design round rugs, I usually use radial symmetry. This rug is no different. The tears emanate from the center outward. The gentle, arm-like shape holds most of the tears, but some still escape. That’s how I feel, and I believe my daughter does, too, when either one of us is away.
