After their children left home, this world-traveling couple decided to create the home they had always wanted as the pièce de résistance of their long and fruitful life together. To meet their multifaceted needs, I developed a suite of rooms designed to work in close harmony. To begin, we moved the kitchen from an ill-conceived location in the middle of the house to the back corner. This change created space for a much-needed family room, with plenty of seating for guests. We then transformed the middle room into a comfortable reading area. Over the years, my clients had amassed numerous works of art from their travels as well as hundreds of books. I incorporated many of their art pieces into the interior design, while building clever storage for easy access to all their books.
