Returning clients asked me to reimagine their living and dining room with them. Their concern was no one was using the sun filled space. Plus, they were very aware of the oversized fireplace surround overwhelmed the space. We got to work. I decreased the size of the surround, refaced it, and designed a transitional mantel for them. We reupholstered the existing sofa and brought in comfortable chairs and an ottoman creating and warm and welcoming sitting area.
In the dining room, we used the existing table, buffet and side chairs. We simply reupholstered the side chairs and to add interest, we brought in new, fully upholstered head dining chairs. The wall color was lightened and brightened to take advantage of the streaming sunlight. A classic palette of neutrals, blues, and a touch of persimmon created a happy, peaceful mood. Pattern and texture take center stage right down to – or up to – the tray ceiling’s silk wall covering. Now this delightful space is used and enjoyed daily.
